Quality housing is the foundation of social and economic development in Nunavik and a healthier lifestyle.
Our goal is to provide comfortable, safe and affordable homes that are adapted to the needs and culture of Inuit. Through our programs and services, we aim to contribute to the development of vibrant, sustainable and safe communities.
We are one big family that needs to be tightly knit. With a team of some 225 employees (80% Inuit) working in 14 offices, we are able to meet the needs of our tenants
Our housing stock consists of 3550 housing units spread over the 14 communities of Nunavik. We house 98% of the population of Nunavik, a total of nearly 14,000 people. Providing housing is more than just providing a roof over your head. It is also about making that place a home where people can enjoy living.
Our commitment to the community is paramount.
The Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau (KMHB) was created in 1999. With its partners, it has contributed over the years to the development of northern housing in Nunavik. Today, the KMHB acts as the designated representative of the Société d'Habitation du Québec to ensure the management of the social housing stock and its maintenance.
We at the KMHB believe in hard work, but also in values that are firmly rooted in our daily lives and on which we base every decision, with an eye to the future:
❶
Cooperation - Whether it's between colleagues, departments or organizations, we work together!
❷
Thoroughness - Dedication to the job and getting the job done!
❸
Solidarity - Because as a team, we are stronger and we go further!
❹
Respect - Celebrating the diversity of values and needs of our tenants and employees!
Our goal is to be recognized for our innovative and sustainable housing solutions in Nunavik and as a forward-thinking, client-oriented organization by 2030.
