Minister Lise Thériault responds to the invitation of the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau

On January 25, Mrs. Lise Thériault, Minister responsible for Consumer Protection and for Housing, accepted the invitation of the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau (KMHB) to meet with its management team in Kuujjuaq in order to discuss several important files.

Accompanied by Geoffrey Kelley, Minister responsible for Native Affairs, and Jean Boucher, Ungava MP, the Minister met with the members of the KMHB Board of Directors, namely President Sammy Duncan, Treasurer Richard Jones, Mr. Claude Gadbois and Director General Marie-France Brisson. Together, they visited various KMHB buildings and two social housing units.

The day ended with a meeting where important KMHB files were addressed: the Home Ownership Program, new maintenance warehouses for 9 of the 14 communities, better working conditions for KMHB employees and the new organizational structure to be established in 2018.
Towards the end of the meeting, our Kativik Regional Government and Makivik partners joined the members of the KMHB Board of Directors to continue discussions.

It is with great gratitude that the KMHB wishes to thank Minister Lise Thériault for taking the time to come to this meeting and learn more about the housing and working needs of the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau.

The KMHB strives to give its tenants access to a quality lifestyle and healthy and safe housing units.

The Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau manages and maintains over 3,356 social housing units in the 14 Nunavik communities where resides nearly 95% of the population.
