Payroll Technician

FUNCTION & RESPONSABILITIES

  • Give Federal and Provincial Source Deductions Return Forms to the employees and help them to fill them out properly.  Make sure to have copies in file for each employee;

  •  Review time sheets, analyse call backs, sick leave and holidays bank in accordance with NHB policy, make the necessary corrections if necessary, advise the employees of the corrections, and have them approve by the Director of Finance before processing the payroll;

  •  Prepare the regular payroll every two weeks with appropriate supporting documents and have it approved by the Director of Finance before sending out the payroll and RRSP transfer notices to the bank; Lock each timesheet once the payroll has been processed;

  •  Prepare adjustments to payroll when necessary and have them approve by the Director of Finance before processing them;

  •  Prepare the payroll and RRSP transfer notices for the bank and follow-up on the transfer;

  •  Prepare Federal and Provincial payments for DAS every two weeks;

  •  Update employees sick and holiday time bank, distribute them once a month to the employees;

  •  Review and reconcile the payroll module with general ledger account on a monthly basis;

  •  Prepare various annual reports such as Commission des Normes (CNESST), T-4 and T-4 Summary and Releve 1 and Releve 1 Summary;

  •  Manage the RRSP of the employees;

  •  Prepare the ROE for the employees when necessary. (5 days after an employee is no longer with the organization);

  • All other duties as assigned by the Superior.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secondary V diploma or pertinent experience in replacement of diploma
  • Experience in payroll

(Any other combination of training and experience could be considered)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in two of the three languages of the region (Inuktitut, English or French);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook);

SALARY / BENEFITS

NHB offers a competitive salary, northern benefits and interesting working conditions. The starting salary is $27.61 and could be more based on the evaluation of experiences related.
