Maintenance Coordinator

FUNCTION & RESPONSABILITIES

The incumbent will coordinate the work of maintenance teams in direct collaboration with the foreman and assistant foreman, if applicable. He/she ensures the prioritization and execution of work orders for the completion of preventive, regular and emergency maintenance work.
More specifically, the incumbent performs the following duties:

  • Plans and identifies, in collaboration with the Director of Operations, the priority building maintenance work to be carried out in the communities;
  • Communicates regularly with foremen or directly with building maintenance employees, as the case may be, to ascertain the progress of work as well as the various needs and difficulties encountered.
  • Offers support and participates in the search for solutions;
  • Discusses with housing managers to validate tenant requests and confirm their satisfaction following the work done in a perspective of continuous improvement;
  • Periodically visits the assigned communities to meet the local teams with a view to: developing a bond of trust, understanding the needs, guiding the implementation of work aids, and verifying the quality of the work carried out;
  • Collaborates with the Procurement Department to ensure that field teams have access to equipment;
  • Ensures that staff regularly clean and tidy storage areas to ensure accessibility, safety and availability of tools and supplies needed for building maintenance;
  • Participates in the identification of labour requirements and in the recruitment, selection and hiring of new maintenance staff. Coordinates the reception, integration and orientation of new employees, as required;
  • Acts as a mentor to foremen and teams, as appropriate, to develop their abilities and skills in carrying out their roles, responsibilities and duties;
  • Receives and approves staff leave requests, and authorizes, transmits staff time sheets in accordance with the payroll schedule;
  • Contributes to the collection of performance indicator and dashboard data for all activities under the position's responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CEGEP diploma in Building Science and/or
  • Three (3) years of experience in building maintenance
  • Five (5) years of experience in personnel management
    (Note: a greater number of years of work experience may compensate for the lack of a diploma.)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in two of the three languages of the region (Inuktitut, English or French)
  • Knowledge of the use of computer tools and the Internet at an advanced level
  • Work is performed both indoors, and outdoors in extreme weather conditions. The incumbent must be willing and able to travel to the various villages that are assigned to the position.

SALARY / BENEFITS

NHB offers a competitive salary, RRSP, Cargo, flight tickets, cost of living deferential benefit and interesting working conditions. The starting salary is $35.57 and could be more based on the evaluation of experiences related.
